Boala caracterizata prin dezvoltarea simultana, In maduva osoasa, a numeroase tumori maligne prin transformarea tesutului hematopoietic. In general acestea sunt *mieloame plasmocitare sau*plasmocitoame. Tumorile se localizeaza Indeosebi la nivelul rahisului si oaselor plate, provocand dureri osoase si fracturi spontane. Radiologic se constata procese de osteoliza, cu formarea de *geode, si osteoporoza, iar hematologic &#8211; anemie, cresterea VSH-ului si prezenta masiva a plasmocitelor maligne In maduva osoasa (ele- ment de importanta majora In diagnostic). Este frecventa insu- fidenta renala, iar semnele de afectare neurologica si pulmo-nara sunt variabile. Sangele contine o *imunoglobulina mono-clonala apartinand claselor IgG, IgA sau, mai rar, IgD, IgE. In sange si urina poate fi detectata *proteina Bence-J ones. Boala este mai frecventa la barbati, dupa varsta de 50 de ani, si evolueaza In cativa ani spre exitus.
